Lamborghini Revuelto: The Future of Supercars

Lamborghini Revuelto

Lamborghini Revuelto is a hybrid supercar from Sant’Agata Bolognese boasting an 825 hp naturally aspirated V12 engine and three electric motors. It has broken the barrier of imagination with a quartet composed of a V12 and three electric motors, to overcome the psychological threshold of 1,000 hp. Successor to the Aventador, the Lamborghini Revuelto is the supercar that looks to the past and future of the House of the Bull, as a link between the multi-fractionated vehicles that have shaped history and the zero-emission units that drive the era of transition.

It follows the path traced, at least in the initial approach, by the exclusive Lamborghini Sian produced in 68 units, taking up part of the style and only the concept of electrification combined with the V12. Different is the plug-in hybrid architecture that drives the Revuelto, tested in preview and also on the road after the test on the Vallelunga circuit.

Lamborghini Revuelto: Interior and Exterior

A mix of references to the brand’s history, combined with technical solutions aimed at aerodynamic efficiency outline the sophisticated design of the Lamborghini Revuelto. The front offers a new interpretation of the Y-shaped pattern introduced by the Sián in 2020, in the front and rear headlights.

At the rear, they converge towards the center, where the double hexagonal exhaust is located, just below the retractable wing that can also be managed manually.

The scissor opening of the doors offers access to the cockpit of the Revuelto which, net of the customizations, alternates noble materials with the carbon fiber that wraps around the hexagonal air vents at the edges of the dashboard.

The central ones are curved and point to the 8.4″ display that is smooth in operation, so much so that it allows the dragging of the icons associated with the on-board functions with the “swipe” function, both towards the new 12.3″ instrument panel and towards the 9.1″ display dedicated to the passenger.

Much of the management passes through the steering wheel, a concentration of technology with four selectors from which it is possible to select driving modes, incidence of the rear wing, and stiffness of the shock absorbers, as well as the “Lift” function to be used on ramps or on uneven surfaces.

The infotainment system is set up for Over the Air (OTA) updates and includes the Amazon Alexa voice assistant, which also interacts with the climate control and navigation system. It is able to show live information on traffic, the location of service stations, and charging infrastructures. The space for the occupants has improved compared to the already good starting base of the Aventador. The 140-liter front cockpit can accommodate two small-sized trolleys.

Hybrid System: The Advanced Technology

Rotated 180° concerning the unit that powers the Aventador, the 6.5-liter naturally aspirated V12 has been completely redesigned for hybrid traction. The new 6.5-liter V12 engine, coded L545, has benefited from interventions aimed at limiting the weight to 218 kg, but above all to reach  825 hp of power with a record value of 9,250 rpm.

The weight-to-power ratio of 1.75 kg/hp is also the highest ever achieved by a Lamborghini. The maximum torque of 725 Nm is available at 6,750 rpm. The V12 receives the support of three electric units, one at the rear and two coaxial ones at the front, each producing 140 kW/190 hp. The first, with 150 hp, is positioned close to the new eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, mounted transversely like on the Miura.

The overall figures indicate a power of 1,015 hp, discharged on the four-wheel drive with Torque Vectoring and rear-wheel steering. All integrated into the innovative “Monofuselage” carbon fiber monocoque chassis, 10% lighter and 25% more rigid than the base of the Aventador.

Lamborghini Revuelto: Aerodynamics and Set-up

The new supercar made by Lamborghini establishes new levels of aerodynamic efficiency (+61%) and downforce (+66%). A good percentage comes from the new active rear wing, with variable inclination depending on driving mode and speed, or manually adjustable via one of the four levers on the steering wheel spokes.

The front section shows the carbon splitter designed to channel the flow towards four rear vortex generators, similar to curved blades, positioned in the underbody to increase the pressure of the airflow that passes through the car pointing at the rear diffuser. The structure has been revised in the geometry of the extraction channels, with low inclination in the central part, and high in the lateral part, to maximize the load on the rear.
